SAVE THE THIMBLE

Oh, no, I have just learned that the Monopoly game folks are about to eliminate one of their tokens and replace it with a new one!  We quilters/sewists must band together in an effort to SAVE THE THIMBLE!

There is a trial going on and the prosecution insists that 'It doesn't fit most human fingers', while the defense counters with it 'Can be used as a hat for tiny mammals'. 
  
Go here https://apps.facebook.com/saveyourtoken/ to vote now.......and see that we need lots of help as the thimble is only getting 10% of the votes at this point.  You can vote everyday and check out the leader board to see who is getting the most votes and who is in real trouble.  Right now the Scottie dog is ahead.   

In between votes ;), (you should have seen the look on my husband's face when I explained what I'm voting for - well he's never used a thimble before, so he just doesn't have that connection) I am working on a quilt with a Dresden Plate block and a Variation of the Irish Chain block.  I will add a couple more rows to the side and to the bottom to create a 60" square.  

We will be offering patterns and kits for 2 sizes, the 60" square (a nice throw)  and the 84" square (a queen size).  Watch for the finished product coming soon to our website.  It will debut in Auntie Ju's Quilt Shoppe in  Booth #1503 at the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival in Hampton VA on February 21st. 

Time Is Of The Essence

I have never made a Dresden Plate block before.  It has been an easy, but interesting experience.  We're calling this, 'Time Is Of The Essence' - the dark blades represent the hands on a clock and are in a different position in each block as 'time passes us by'!
