This month marks the start of the 6th year of the existence of Auntie Ju's Quilt Shoppe. We've come such a long way since we loaded up our entire inventory in Julie's Jeep Cherokee and headed for the mountains to West Jefferson NC to vend at our very first quilt show in September of 2007.
Our first booth was just 10' x 10'. The backdrop of the booth was loaded on the top of the Jeep, we hand wrote receipts and used the 'knuckle buster' for credit card sales.
We've grown and learned so much and, oh my, how things have changed!
We now need a 20' or a 30' booth to display everything, we're all computerized and it takes a truck and a 12' trailer 'loaded to the gills' to get us where we're going!
What started out as a quilt shop with quilts and punch needle projects has 'morphed' over the years into a wool and punch needle shop with quilts.
And on the home front our website actually went live in January of 2008 and now has 1500+ items listed in our inventory. Julie hand dyes all of our wools, makes all the wool samples and does all the ordering and bookkeeping.
Since my husband's illness he and I have not traveled with Julie, so our daughter, Peggy, from Atlanta has taken our place. There's plenty to do here at home maintaining the website, preparing and shipping orders, sending a monthly newsletter, advertising, and making an occasional shop sample.
So it's been a great journey so far and it couldn't have been traveled without the support of our loyal customers. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
