TA-DA Half Square Triangles the easy way!

Hey, everyone, it's been a while but we've got lots to cover so let's get started.

First, we are launching our new Block of the Month in July.  It's called 'Simply Red' by Kathy Schmitz.  It's a beauty in just two colors - red and cream and can be finished in either wool or fabric appliqué on a fabric background.

The background is done in half-square triangles and flying geese - but we are using Ta-Da Triangles for the half-square triangles and it is 'as easy as pie'!  Peggy is doing the fabric background and Julie is doing the wool applique blocks.  It won't be ready for showing at the Quilter's by the Sea Quilt Guild Quilt Show this weekend (details of the show below), but we'll have pictures and we'll be signing up participants.  We will start shipping the blocks in July.  Click on the pic below for more details.

SIMPLY RED - 54" X 65"

The 'TA-DA Triangles' we're using are pre-printed on fusible interfacing which you press on the wrong side of the lightest fabric, add your dark fabric and sew them together on the dotted lines and cut on the solid lines to make purr-fect half square triangles.  Easy, easy, easy! The interfacing stays in the triangles.  It's so thin you don't even know it's there.  Click on the pic for more details.

We've made a new quilt called 'North and South' from the 2013 Summer Issue of Primitive Quilts and Projects magazine.

It's all pieced in Civil War Reproduction fabrics and the eagle and stars are appliquéd in the center.  It's approx. 37 1/2" x 46".  Click on the pic for more details.

Let's see what else we've been up to.  Oh, Kathy Schmitz has patterns for some really cute 'needle and thread keepers'.  I hadn't embroidered for quite some time and they were so fun and easy to make.

I made copies of the patterns onto Transfer-Eze, laid them on my fabric and embroidered right through the interfacing.  When finished I just soaked them for a minute or two in water and the adhesive on the back of the Transfer-Eze melted away!

Here's another project in which I used Transfer-Eze and it was so perfect for placing all these details.  The stems and heather are embroidered with wool appliqué for the fruit, leaves, berries, bird and urn.  This pillow is called 'Simple Blessings'.

We're using our 'Big Shot' to cut up all of our scraps of wool into lots of 'pennies' for all you 'penny lovers' - hey, I just heard Lionel Richie sing that song the other night!  Oh, I digress!  Anyway, we're putting them, 100 of 4 different sizes, in a bag so you all can just make pretty 'pennies' to your hearts content.  Our 14 year old granddaughter is in charge of this project.  She's here for about a month so we need to keep her busy so she doesn't get boooooored!  You grandmother's know how that goes..........

Hope to see you on:
